[BBC News] Microsoft offer to buy Yahoo

Microsoft has offered to buy the search engine
company Yahoo for $44.6bn (£22.4bn) in cash and shares.
...62% above Yahoo's closing share price...
There has not yet been any comment from Yahoo.

  1. Many people's take on this is that Yahoo may reconsider talks Google as another option, assuming that they wish to sell.
    Apparently Google made a $31/share bid several months ago that was reportedly believed undervalued by Yahoo.

  2. This <Wall Street Journal article> says that the Yahoo board has rejected, or decided to reject, Microsoft's offer. It says the board decided that anything under $40 per share undervalues the company. Don't confuse the $44.6 billion offer as $44 per share. Apparently the offer was less than $35 a share.
